Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this absolutely enormous 9 feet 9 inch tall Antique circa 1880-1900 hand carved English Burr Oak Emperor size Tester bed frame which is the largest I have ever seen Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price Where to begin, this bed is an absolute work of art, it is very large indeed, just under 10 feet tall, it is ornately carved from every single angle and tells a story no matter where you look of how proficient the craftsman wasThis bed would have been commission for some great castle or other where the ceilings were so high they needed enormous furniture to bring the room in to perspective. It is wonderfully carved, the base pillars are truly sublime, the headboard depicts hearts and the roof is paneled in the Jacobean style with a crown to to the middle. The bed has sections of timber with burrs or as the Americans call them burls, they are sporadically placed in different locations around the frame The piece breaks down in to approximately 20 easy to install pieces, it takes around 1 hour for 2 people to build, you only need extra bodies when you fit the flat top roof. Condition wise, we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it, all the bolts were lost so I have ordered all new examples, they are currently silver however I can have the tops of the base bolts painted should the new owner wish so they blend in with the frame colourSize wise there are four variations of Emperor, this is the third largest taking a 215cm square mattress.
