Nicely Matted with Colored Background Board, Chuck Jones Production, Warner Bros Inc. Official Stamp & COA, From a Large Private Collection of Chuck Jones’ Production Cel WorksMatte is 20″ W x 16″ H, Visible Cel area is Approx 12″ W x 10″ H (We think the only “Blue” Wile E. Coyote’s like this to ever be offered on eBay are the ones we have now and honestly we could not find another anywhere else.) NOTE: THE 2nd to LAST PICTURE IN PHOTO GALLERY IS OF ANOTHER BLUE WILE E. COYOTE, #’s 9 C 13, that we have listed separately in our store (on eBay) for auction, it IS NOT PART OF THIS AUCTION, we included it for reference as finding close sequential numbers on cels is not easy. This auction is for only the one, # 9 C 15 shown in pictures. Also the last picture in photo gallery is of a cel that sold for $495 on eBay, likely from same film (not included in this sale) and used for value reference only. Note: We have listed many other original production cels from this film with Wile E. Coyote in blue, some in sequence with this, some not. We also have many other Chuck Jones cels from other films listed and coming soon. Update 3 Sharp hand painted Original Animation Production 12 Field Cel from Chuck Jones Production featuring “Wile E. Coyote in Blue” from one of the numerous cartoons by Chuck Jones with Wile E Coyote. We think this is likely from 1975-1980 era, but have not reviewed all the cartoons from that time to confirm. The last picture in our photo gallery with Wile E under water, says it was from 1979 Bugs Bunny Looney Christmas Tale, but that is incorrect as no underwater scene is in that film. Others from the collection we acquired this from were marked from “The Road Runner Movie” 1979, but this is not marked as to a specific film & we could find no scene from that movie with Wile E in blue. Collectors & Wile E. fans may know & we would love to know if you can identify the cartoon film this was from and we can ad information to description. I have seen this cartoon myself, but cannot recall its title. This cel was made in association with Warner Brothers of course, but produced during a very prolific period for Chuck Jones during the 1970’s we think. He made a number of TV specials during this era including others such as three made for TV films by Jones from “The Jungle Book”. “The White Seal” 1975 & “Mowgli’s Brothers” 1976 & Rikki Tikki Tavi 1975. He also did “A Cricket in Times Square” & it’s sequel, “Yankee Doodle Cricket” & more. We have cels listed or to be listed from those films as well. There will also be other Warner Brother’s cels with Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote & more. These authentic cels are getting tougher to find as time goes by due to growing collector interest in this collecting genre & hobby. The cel, matte & background board are in near mint condition, but not quite perfect (not that any cels are). There maybe some very light minor light scratches on outer surface of cel, but we could not see anything of note. One of the best cels we have seen or sold. Please review all pictures taken to assist you with determining condition & use zoom feature if needed, but it looks terrific. This is firmly matted & suitable for framing if you choose. The 3rd to last picture in photo gallery kind of highlights the artwork by catching the drawn outline on outer surface, the inner surface of cel is painted. We acquired a number of these Wile E. Coyote cels and are very honored to offer them to the collecting public. The background color is on the matting board. We are pricing this at what we feel is a fair value given it’s appeal & rarity and below most listed or sold of this quality. Prices on these authentic pieces can sometimes go to more than double our price, but we encourage buyers to do their own research on such and not rely on our opinion. The collector we acquired this work from had literally hundreds of rare production cel pieces from various works by Jones, many in consecutive series, which we have personally not seen much outside of a studio sale 20 years ago perhaps. This has a Chuck Jones Production mark on lower left of cel & a standard COA Paper that came with this when purchased. This is nicely matted & shows slot cuts in matte at bottom from production process, which we prefer as well as series #’s from the film. Chuck Jones (Sept 21, 1912 – Feb 22, 2002) is among the elite of the elite cartoon artists & film innovators in history. If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know this. In his extensive career he created such characters as the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, & Marvin the Martian (and others) as well as helping refine the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig & more along the way. Each of these hand painted cels are from a talented animation artist’s hand & a part of cartoon film history. We feel the collecting of Authentic Animation Art is truly one of the neatest collectible genres. Not only do you get a piece of a gifted animation artist’s work, each piece is part of a living history of the movies and films they were used in & they make exceptional display items. It’s a bit like owning a World Series game used bat from a baseball player, at least we feel that way. But in this case the World Series never ends as the cartoons keep playing and playing.
