eBay This is an authentic vintage dragonfly brooch by Heidi Daus. For interested collectors, it should be noted that the brooch is signed “Heidi Daus for Jim Walters” (with Jim Walters scratched out). And here’s why… My understanding is that this brooch was created sometime after 1998 which is when Heidi split with her financial partner, Jim Walters and continued creating her jewelry under her own name. Apparently there was a very brief period after the split in which Heidi legally had his name scratched off the few pieces that had previously included her ex-partners name, Jim Walter’s. As such, those pieces are very rare and collectible. This beautiful dragonfly brooch includes this interesting pedigree. This dragonfly brooch is a beautiful example of her bejeweled and beloved creations. This is called a “fluttering” brooch because the wings are set on springs to add movement and dimension when the wearer is walking and talking. And with a large purple cut crystal body and clear rhinestones for eyes, this beauty will dazzle day or night. CONDITION is excellent with a few minor signs of wear; the arm of the closing pin is slightly bent but the closure mechanism is secure and strong. DETAILS CRYSTALS -The body of the dragonfly is a teardrop cut, prong set large purple crystal or faux Amethyst. -The eyes are two smaller clear rhinestones or crystals -The “Fluttering” wings are on springs and have a cutout pattern lined with pavé-set round crystals. – Round crystals bezel-set at extended antenna ends. -Sectioned tail is covered in pavé-set round crystals -Textured metalwork extremities in a filigree-like design. -Base metal is copper-toned mixed metals. -Closure- Joint-and-catch closure -Finish- Oxidized, polished. -Weight – approx .125 lbs -Measures – approximately 3½” long x 2 ¾” wide -Created by the leading artisan of the fluttering dragonfly brooch, Ms. Heidi Daus.
